“Tracks In The Snow” is an early intermediate piano solo with a beautiful day in the forest.  However, things turn eerie when wolf tracks cross the path and can sense the pack is watching silently from the trees.  Your students will enjoy the emotional journey as they play this piece.

Tracks In The Snow Level:

“Tracks In The Snow” is an early intermediate piano solo that is perfect for teen to adult students.  The 2/4 time is meant to mimic the feel of cross-country skiing. 

The triplet notes are 3-note scales to build a relaxed hand shape and flow while students play.  The middle section is 4-note chords between two hands and they are designed to not resolve until the section is over.  This creates an eerie mood within the piece.

• Concepts: triplets, chord bridges, hand position changes, 2 ledger lines, tied notes to create individual voices (3 times within song), 3-note chromatic scales

Your students will experiment with hand position changes and different types of pedal use to create their own interpretation of this piece.  Your students can also experiment with swinging some of the eighth notes for a more playful feel to juxtapose the eerie chords in the middle section.
