This piece is designed for your student to insert their own wonderful memories as inspiration as they learn the piece.
Winter At The Cabin Level:
“Winter At The Cabin” is a late intermediate piano solo that is perfect for teen to adult students. While this piece is in 6/8 time one of the left-hand accompaniment patterns follow a 4-2 rhythm segmentation while the right-hand follows more typical rhythms for this time signature. This creates a light-hearted, slightly syncopated feel to the section. The left hand switches clefs mid-song to create a whimsical mood.
- Mode: D Major
- Time Signature: 6/8
- Concepts: Independent rhythms in each hand, option to swing eighth notes, clef change mid-song, some 4-note chords in one hand, 3+ ledger lines
Your students are encouraged to try playing this piece as written and swinging the eighth notes. This changes the mood slightly, but also can create a fun rhythmical challenge partway through the song.
Winter At The Cabin Bonus:
All sheet music comes with original cover art. “Winter At The Cabin” comes with “make it your own” tips for students to master the piece.

- Page 1: Cover art
- Page 2: Description, tips for students to make it their own, terms of use
- Page 3+: Music

Students love a bit of cover art since it can help them get into the mood and story of a piece. I’ve included ways to adapt or play with the music so students become part of the creative process.
The terms of use are there to educate students and their families about copyright law. We know, but they may not realize what they are innocently doing may cause you to lose your studio licence.
Lastly, having other pieces at a similar level can keep students excited about what the next song in their musical journey can be!
