Imagine a lively “Carnival of Fantasy” with bright lights and fun rides in this one-handed early intermediate/intermediate piano solo.
This is perfect for students who:
- Have injured one hand, but want music that sounds like music (rather than their teacher helping them adapt a two-handed piece)
- Need help increasing the strength or dexterity of their non-dominant hand
And it’s perfect for teachers who want a unique option for sight-reading at this level, which still allows their students to focus on one hand at a time.
The PDF includes versions for right-hand and left-hand. I always found it challenging as a student to ignore “incorrect” finger numbers when playing with the opposite hand. These PDFs ensure the focus can be on playing, not figuring out the finger numbers.
“Carnival of Fantasy” Level:
“Carnival of Fantasy” is a light early intermediate/intermediate level piano solo designed for one-hand playing.
- Mode: A minor (with accidentals)
- Time signature: 4/4
- Concepts: chromatic scales, dotted eighth + sixteenth note rhythms, triplets, 4-note chords (in one hand), syncopation, accent, all accidentals (including natural), eighth rest, seventh chords, hand position changes (subtle and leaps), ledger lines (once up to 3 lines), tied notes, switching clefs
- Range: 5 octaves
The rhythms include 8th note triplets, plus eighth + sixteenth note patterns to create syncopation. The smallest rest is an eighth rest.
At this level, students are expected to move across the piano more smoothly. “Carnival of Fantasy” uses chromatic patterns and leaps, using chords as the foundations for dual practice in keyboard geography.
“Carnival of Fantasy” Bonus:
All sheet music has original cover art. “Carnival of Fantasy” includes composer notes that include mastery tips and “make it your own” suggestions to develop an individual interpretation.

- Or could use extra practice with their keyboard geography

- Carnival of Fantasy: Enjoy the fun of an old-school carnival!
- Nowhere I’d Rather Be: Savour time with old friends or a tranquil walk.
