Misuki wasn’t a fan of couch cushion forts.  But, much like a famous little dog who went down a yellow brick road (classic movie), she could be convinced to “Follow the Dog Biscuit Road”!  This rote piece explores using black key groups to travel the keyboard.

Follow the Dog Biscuit Road Level:

“Follow the Dog Biscuit Road” is an elementary, rote piano solo.  This playful piece explores using black key groups for quick hand position changes.

  • Mode: B Major (accidentals)
  • Time Signature: 2/4
  • Concepts: chord bridges, keyboard geography using black key groups, shifting hand positions, sharps, staccato, eighth note triplets, crescendo, accents

“Follow the Dog Biscuit Road” is best taught by rote so students can best discover the patterns.  The smallest notes are eighth-note triplets that form 3-note scales or rock back and forth.  Once learnt, the tempo of this piece can become quite quick to create a jaunty mood.

There is one alpha note marked.  Accidentals are used so this piece is a level-appropriate reading piece for students who would like that challenge.

The single-line melody and chord bridges shift clefs.  But, when students learn this by rote they will quickly realize they are moving in octaves (with one exception).

Follow the Dog Biscuit Road Bonus:

All sheet music comes with original cover art.  “Follow the Dog Biscuit Road” comes with composer notes that include mastery tips and “make it your own” suggestions to develop an individual interpretation.

More About “Misuki – La Princesa” Collection:

“Follow the Dog Biscuit Road” is part of the “Misuki – La Princesa” for elementary-level students who love a good story behind the music.

These are our favourite memories of Misuki and range from tempting her to enter couch cushion forts, zoomies (supersonic runs), and her cute antics while begging for food.  Every piece has a fourth interval that represents her “yip” and you will hear her love of life and family in each piece.

  • Cover Art
  • Sheet Music
  • Description, Composer Notes, Terms of Use
  • Related Pieces Suggestions

Students love a bit of cover art.  It helps them get into the mood and story of a piece.

The Composer Notes include ways to adapt or play with the music so students become part of the creative process.

The licensing terms help your families understand how digital sheet music works.  Just like books or apps, each purchase is for one user (or in this case, your studio). This makes it easy for you to explain copyright to students and parents.

The final page shows related pieces with previews.  Perfect for inspiring students’ next musical adventure!
