  • Prep (Early Elementary): Landmark notes (bass F), alpha notes (for non-landmark notes), playing low on the piano, keyboard diagram (with both RH and LH finger options), bass clef, repeat signs, piano to forte, smallest note is dotted half note (to keep steady tempo)
  • Level 1 (Elementary): Melody moving between clefs, broken chords, hands moving parallel and contrary, crescendo, repeat sign, smallest note is quarter note
  • Level 2 (Elementary/Late Elementary): Hands moving contrary motion (single note), broken chords, full chords, hands moving parallel, hand over hand broken chords, 1 ledger line, 8ba, smallest note is quarter note.
  • Level 3 (Early Intermediate): Hand position changes, same clef (both hands), full chords, broken chords (single note and harmonic), full scale fingering, up to 3 ledger lines, clef change, octaves (once), smallest note is eighth note.

  • Level 2: Hand-over-hand broken chords and dynamic variety with one ledger line.
  • Level 3: Explores hand position changes with both hands in the same clef and full scale fingering. 
  • Level 4: Combines rhythm and harmony with triplets, extended broken chords, and dotted eighth to sixteenth patterns across frequent hand position shifts, building the piece’s commanding intensity with occasional voices per hand that complete the dramatic vision.
