“When Stars Whisper” creates dreamy and peaceful moods ideal for beginners of any age who enjoy contemplative music.  This early elementary duet piece highlights octave movement and steps and skips within the treble clef. 

• Mode: D minor (no accidentals)
• Time Signature: 4/4
• Concepts: 8va, both hands in treble clef, mostly steps and skips (up to 6th interval between the hands), ritardando (written as “slow down”), fermata, smallest note is a quarter note

Designed with only 3 patterns for easy rote learning, this piece also includes a keyboard diagram for when piano players are ready to look at the score.  Starting finger numbers are written in, and any time hand position changes, circled numbers guide the way. 

The focus on steps and skips with octave movement strengthens keyboard geography and note reading.  The smallest note (outside of rote) is a quarter note, keeping rhythms accessible for early learners.
