Jake Meets The Jack Rabbit Level:

“Jake Meets The Jack Rabbit” is an elementary-level piano solo.  Articulation and rhythm play a big role in telling this story through music.  Jack is a playful, fun-loving dog which shows rhythm introduced in measures 1 – 8.  Tapping the rhythm away from the piano will make it easier to play these hands together.

  • Mode: C Major
  • Time Signature: 4/4
  • Concepts: accidentals (sharp, flat), chord bridges, 8va, chromatic scale (up and down)

The smallest note in this piece is an eighth note and is part of either mini-scales or alternating notes.  Staccato keeps things light or adds lift to the end of legato phrases.  Students explore playing at different octaves with 2-measures repeated at higher octaves each time.
