“Wednesday’s Waltz” Level:

“Wednesday’s Waltz” creates a flowing and brooding mood ideal for beginners of any age who enjoy expressive, mysterious music.  This early elementary rote to reading piece highlights octave movement and steps and skips within the bass clef.

  • Mode: A minor harmonic (accidentals)
  • Time Signature: 3/4
  • Concepts: 8va, both hands in bass clef, mostly steps and skips, 5th interval (as part of a chord), ritardando (written as “slow down”), fermata, smallest note is a quarter note

With only 3 main patterns, this piece works beautifully for rote teaching before exploring the grand staff.  A keyboard diagram helps piano players visualize patterns when ready to read.  While starting finger numbers and circled position changes provide clear guidance.

Octave movement paired with steps and skips builds strong keyboard geography skills.  The accessible quarter note rhythms let your beginners focus on the expressive, melancholy character.

“Wednesday’s Waltz” Bonus:

All sheet music has original cover art.  “Wednesday’s Waltz” includes composer notes that include mastery tips and “make it your own” suggestions to develop an individual interpretation.
