While Sam had his soft, cuddly side, he was also a great hunter.  Imagine the spies from 60’s movies.  They would creep down corridors and leap onto the bad guys.  Much like Sam would do as he hunted.  Plus, Sam had a cool factor that any of those spies would be envious of.

This piece is unique because you get both studio-licensed versions of the piece automatically.  An elementary level for strictly rote teaching.  Plus an intermediate level version that could combine rote and note reading teaching.

For each level/version of the song there are additional bonuses.  To help students, I’ve included the story, plus practice and performance tips for students.  To help you, there are teacher notes for adapting each level for student success.

I’m Sam, Elite Mouse Hunter Level:

“I’m Sam, Elite Mouse Hunter” is a dual-level piano solo.  The elementary, rote version is perfect for beginner students.  And, the intermediate version is great as a quick win, hybrid rote and note reading piece.

  • Mode: C Major (accidental written in)
  • Time Signature: 4/4
  • Rote Level Concepts: dotted eighth/sixteenth note rhythms, tied notes, syncopation, accents, chromatic scale, flats, sharps, fermata, echo dynamics
  • Intermediate Level Concepts: chord bridge accompaniment pattern, shifting hand position, dotted eighth/sixteenth note rhythms, tied notes, syncopation, accents, chromatic scale, flats, sharps, fermata, echo dynamics, enclosed repeat signs

While the concepts for the rote level look hard, they can be taught to absolute beginners who have a decent ear for music.  The initial measure will take about 1 week of practice and the chromatic section will take about 1 more week.  However, once these are under your student’s fingers, the rest of the song comes together quickly.

Your students will love the “James Bond” chord at the end of the song!

I’m Sam, Elite Mouse Hunter Bonuses:

“I’m Sam, Elite Mouse Hunter” comes with two levelled versions for each piece.  Within each version of the song, there is cover art, story, practice and performance tips for students, plus teacher notes for adapting each version for student success.

For more information on your studio licence, check out the Terms and Conditions page.

If you purchase a collection you will need a program to open zip files to access all pieces within the collection.

Should I print all pages for students?

Yes!  Each page is designed with students in mind.

  • Page 1: Cover art
  • Page 2: Description, tips for students to make it their own, terms of use
  • Page 3+: music
  • Last page: other music they may like

Students love a bit of cover art since it can help them get into the mood and story of a piece.   I’ve included ways to adapt or play with the music so students become part of the creative process.

The terms of use are there to educate students and their families about copyright law.  We know, but they may not realize what they are innocently doing may cause you to lose your studio licence.

Lastly, having other pieces at a similar level can keep students excited about what the next song in their musical journey can be!
